We are planning a trip to Broken Bow in March (around the 18th) for Spring Break and our son%26#39;s 11th birthday. I have looked at numerous websites and there are still so many cabins to choose from (I figured we might be out of luck in reserving one) that I%26#39;m a bit overwhelmed. I also found a website where you can rent RV%26#39;s and they park them inside the park for you. I can%26#39;t find any reviews on hardly any of the places I%26#39;ve looked at online. Are there any recommendations from locals? We are a family of 6 with 4 children ranging in age from 13 to 3 years. Also, typically, what can we expect the weather to be like? And are there very many areas to bank fish in the area. Basically any info on the area will help! Thank you!
Spring Break in Broken Bow area
We have always stayed in cabins inside the park so I can%26#39;t really comment on any of the cabins outside the park. We have spring break reservations again this year. This will make it at least 10 years straight that we have gone to Beavers Bend for spring break and our kids wouldn%26#39;t want to do anything else unless except for skiing.
The spring break weather can really vary from warm to cold. Actally our kids (16 %26amp; 14) like it on the cooler side so we can have a bonfire that is functinal as well as fun. I can tell you that there are plenty of areas through the park to fish the river from the bank as well as from bridges that are suitable for kids of all ages. The nature center in the park is also a great thing that our kids have always liked visiting (on a daily basis) They also typically have craft projects for the younger kids they do on a daily basis (check times) There are also paddle boat rentals, and mini-golf, and canoe rentals in the park. A drive through the park about 30 minutes before dark will typically yield some deer sightings along with other wildlife as well.
As far as restaurants, we prefer the Stevens Gap Restaurant that is about 2 miles N of the park on the west side of the road that has great burgers and chicken fried steak. We also like the restaurant in the park although it can be a little more pricey for some items.
Spring Break in Broken Bow area
Thank you so much for the information. We have taken quick day trips to the area but never stayed the night or been to the nature center. I appreciate all the pointers. Hope your family enjoys the trip again this year.
It would help if we knew a price range you were talking about. As far as the weather it can range from the 40%26#39;s-80%26#39;s just like any other southern area for that time of the year. There are numerous places that your kids could fish at in Beaver%26#39;s Bend State Park. The kids will have to have a trout stamp to fish in the park but there are areas on the lake that can be fished free of charge. I would suggest you call the Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce at 580-584-3393. They would be glad to assist you and answer any questions you might have about our area. We get a lot of people from Texas and the surrounding area during spring break so I would suggest you book now. I will post a couple of links that might be helpful. I will also send you a PM to contact me for further details. AlCap
