Hi -- My daughter wants to attend a Basketball camp at Isola Bella Gym in March (she is 10). We usually stay at Holiday in on 6200 N. Robinson because it is near Zoo, etc. Can you tell me about the Isola Bell Gym area -- is it safe? Are there hotels there?
Thanks!
Isola Bella Gym area Peniel Ave
The gym is right by/in the middle of a very large area of rent houses/duplexes and apartment complexes. It does not have a very good reputation for safety and in the past has had one of the higher crime rates of the city. The Post Office Box Unit I use is less than half a mile from the gym and it is now closed during non-business hours because of vandalism. I would check with the gym and see what type of extra security precautions they will have.
Are there hotels there? The nearest hotels at which I would consider staying are on or just off NW Expressway. There is an Extended Stay America hotel at 4811 NW Expressway, a Marriott at 3233 NW Expressway, a Holiday Inn Express at 2811 NW Expressway and a Comfort Inn at 5704 Mosteller Drive.
Let us know if there is anything else.

Where are you getting an address for this place modcon? I cannot find it in google maps.
I did a search for ';Isola Bella Gym Oklahoma City'; on Google and got several hits. This was the most pertinent:
advantagebasketball.com/map-isolabella.htm
In addition, I pass by the Isola Bella apartments on my way home and know the area pretty well - although I haven%26#39;t been down Peniel to the actual address, I have been down that street in the past - my wife was a realtor and sold a duplex there a few years back to someone that wanted inexpensive (at the time) rent property.
:)
It also shows up as a ';boxing gym'; on this site:

GreatMom63 - I was looking at the Basketball Camp website, Parent-Info, FAQ%26#39;s:

The last question in the FAQ.
From what is written it sounds as if they are taking reasonable precautions for the safety of the children. And since it is only a day camp, you will have to drop her off and pick her up - which should mean people around during those times, and people usually equals increased safety.
IMO, it should be reasonably safe under the conditions outlined on the camp website and with you having to do the dop-off/pick-up.
Of course, you will have to use your own judgement.

Thank you so much for your help! We registered for the camp. My husband often comes to Oklahoma City (we are from Texas) for treatment at Scott Sabolich Prosthetic center so I am familiar with the area near there. I think we will stay at the Holiday Inn at 6200 N Robinson Ave again. Is there a hospitality house in Oklahoma City for people like my husband. He has to be there often and it can get quite expensive!
That hotel is about 6.5 miles east of the gym - straight down 63rd street. All of the hotels I mentioned are much closer, but stay where you are comfortable.
:)
I do not have any knowledge of hospitality houses here in OKC. Your husband can try the suggestions of the center at

Good luck!
Thanks again for your help -- I relly appreciate it!
I would like to ask for more info on the Isola Bella Apartments. We now have an opportunity to stay there for the week. Any knowledge on how safe/nice it would be there? Is it a gated community? Any info would be appreciated!
I don%26#39;t believe those apartments are gated. I will check on my way home tonight to make sure and do a reconnoiter of the area to give you a more informed opinion of the safety and whether I would consider staying there or not.
:)
If you want to stay nearby, I recommend:
tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g51560-d101843-鈥?/a>
tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g51560-d101849-鈥?/a>
Those are within a couple miles but in an area where there is no need to worry about safety.
