hello Forum Folks,
Here%26#39;s the deal. Me and my wife have adopted a newborn baby boy 8 months ago. And, as you know, there hasn%26#39;t been much time for romance! We have an anniversary coming up and I would love to get away. I need something close to home, in Amarillo so I was thinking an overnight and take in Bricktown. We have never been over there and we only have one night. Can you give me an idea of some of the nicer places to stay around there and also a good place to go eat?
I appreciate any input!
Nice Place to stay / Bricktown
The two best hotels close to the Bricktown entrance (about 3 short city blocks) are:
The Colcord Hotel - http://www.colcordhotel.com/
and
The Skirvin - 鈥ilton.com/en_US/鈥ndex.do
Of the two, the Colcord has somewhat larger rooms and is a recently completed boutique hotel in what was an historic office building.
The Skirvin is a recently rejuvenated hostoric hotel.
IMO, you can%26#39;t go wrong with either one of them.
Slightly less pricey alternatives are:
Marriot Courtyard Downtown. - marriott.com/hotels/鈥?/a>
It is less than a block from the entrance to Bricktown and some of the deluxe rooms have a whirlpool bath.
Or the Rennaissance Hotel, which is basically accross the street from the Courtyard.
For a romantic dinner check out:
Nonna%26#39;s - http://www.nonnas.com/
Red Prime Steak - http://www.redprimesteak.com/
or The Mantel - http://www.themantelokc.com/
Enjoy!

Great suggestions above. Let us know what kind of nightlife you might be interested in.
The downtown area has 2 movie theatres (1 art house), a comedy club, a bowling lounge, art galleries, live theatre, live music, bars of every kind, and a lot more.
Thanks for the input! I will give some serious thought to that courtyard down town. The first two are fabulous, but too rich for my blood. The nighlife I%26#39;m just looking for somewhere to go have a few drinks and either people watch or some dancing? Any ideas there?
You can always hit City Walk http://high.citybrickwalk.com/index.php
A Multi-club complex that might suit you.
And if you like C%26amp;W, try Toby Keith%26#39;s I Love this Bar and Grill';. http://www.tobykeithsbar.com/
People watching and drinking.
Also suggest SkkyBar and Paralogia.
Hey Parman, I am an Amarillo native and have lived in Oklahoma City for the last 2 1/2 years. I agree with all of the other suggestions about hotels and restaurants and have a couple other thoughts:
1. The Melting Pot is a cool fondue restaurant that a little more casual than some of the other downtown restaurants, but is still a little pricey. I think the appeal is that it%26#39;s unique (and always MORE than enough to eat!)
2. If you are interested in nightlife and like country music, there is a cool and famous bar called the ';Wormy Dog'; that is fun. It does attract a younger crowd (20s-30s), but usually has great live music and dancing.
3. Although I have not stayed in the Marriott Courtyard in Bricktown, I have stayed in several of these hotels around the country and I%26#39;m never disappointed!
I hope you have a wonderful time in OKC! Congratualations on the new baby!
Thanks for all of the suggestions! I will check out all of this info! A friend of mine has suggested The Renaissance. Do you guys have anything good, bad, or indifferent to say about it?
Again, Thanks a Million fo the info!
The Renaissance is a very nice hotel and is equally as good as, and in some ways better than the Courtyard. Depending on when you stay it may be slightly more expensive than the Courtyard.
marriott.com/hotels/鈥?/a> If it was me I would check both and see which has the lesser rate for the time you are staying and go with that one.
I%26#39;ve stayed at that Renaissance and had a WONDERFUL TIME! I would stay there again in a heart beat.
Thank you to everyone who has helped me out! I really appreciate it!
