Coming in from Oklahoma City

We%26#39;re coming in from Toronto for the game and were planning on staying at a hotel in Oklahoma City. What%26#39;s the best way to get to Norman for the game that day - is Amtrak the only way to go?

Coming in from Oklahoma City

The Amtrak Heartland Flyer is an option, but if you decide to take that it is an entire day. The morning train leaves OKC around 8:30 AM and the return train leaves Norman around 9:00 PM. (According to the Amtrak website those are the only options.)

Also, you will have to get from your hotel to the OKC train station. Then the walk from the train station to the stadium is about a mile.

What game will you be attending in Norman? For my answer above I assumed it is an OU football game, but depending on the hotel at which you are staying and the venue where the game is being played the best way to get there from OKC can vary. If you let us know the game you are attending we may be able to give you other options.

Thanks so much for your help. You were correct in your assumption that we are coming for a Sooners game. Its Nov 1 against Nebraska. Based on our online research we had determined that Amtrak may be our only option but based on the times we thought we should also explore other options. Also, we%26#39;re still unsure which hotel we%26#39;ll be staying at but likley the Sheraton which looks to be walking distance. Any suggestions you can offer for game day transportation would be greatly appreciated.

I have checked for alternatives to driving from OKC to Norman other than Amtrak and, unfortunately, at this time there are none that I can find.

As for Amtrak - since the time is currently listed as ';TBA';, and it is televised, the game may start after 5PM (it could be a 6 PM kickoff.) Under those circumstances Amtrak may not be a good choice since the game could last long enough that you wouldn%26#39;t make the train back to OKC.

I would honestly recommend that you rent a car and drive. Park at the Llyod Noble Center on the OU Campus and from there OU runs a shuttle bus to the stadium. Parking is much easier in that instance.

Sorry I couldn%26#39;t be more help. Maybe someone else will have a better recommendation.

Have fun and good luck!

I agree that renting a car for the day would be your best bet. Having a car would also allow you to do a little sight seeing in OKC. If you do rent a car, you might want to stay in Norman (if you can get a hotel there).
