Best Time to go to OKC?

Hi All ! I was hoping someone could tell me when the best time to come to OKC is? April? May? July? October? with the least amount of rain so I can do lots! ';must do'; things in okc. and a good hotel close to bricktown. and anything else you might want to pass along Thanks!

Angie~

Best Time to go to OKC?

I would recommend the fall - late Sept/early Oct - but it depends on your personal preference. Spring - late Apr/early May - can be nice, but will likely be wetter and windier, with more chance of severe weather. The middle of summer and winter are both good times to avoid, as the summer heat can be stifling and the winter cold is often backed up by a stiff wind.

I agree with Late Sept/Early October as a good time. Also, believe it or not March can also be very nice - depending on the rains. Sometimes March is very mild and other times it%26#39;s a bear. :) April can also be a great time to visit - especially during the Festival of the Arts - from 4/21-4/26 this year. But to be honest, it can get rainy and very windy almost any time of the year.

Must do things in OKC?

Visit the Murrah Memorial. Bricktown. Attend a Thunder Game. Go to the Zoo. See the Redhawks play some Baseball. Visit the 45th Infantry Museum or the Western Heritage Museum and Cowboy Hall of Fame or the Sam Noble Museum in Norman or The Softball Hall of Fame, or any combination or all - depending on your interests!

Places to stay near Bricktown? The Skirvin is very nice. So is the Colcord. Then there is the Renaissance and the Marriott Courtyard Bricktown and of course, the new hotel - the Residence Inn Downtown/Bricktown.

You might give us an idea what it is you like to do/see and what type of hotel budget you want and we can make more specific suggestions!

Definitely late March or April. There are a lot of great events around that time, such as the aforementioned Festival of the Arts in downtown OKC, one of the largest arts festivals in the country. It regularly draws over 250,000 people over the week.

Fall is also a nice time.

Oh Thank you all! Ive been so overwhelmed of when to come to OKC. so I will either come april(around the 14th) or end of sept./first of october. as far as entrests I want to go to bricktown. we like to go shop. good restaurants.I wanted to go to shawnee %26amp; check out the geneology. my great grandparents are buried there(pleasent valley I believe is the cemetary.) %26amp; my grandmother grew up there around shawnee, maud, area -all in pottawatomi county. will be visiting relatives-Ive never met. in shawnee %26amp; quinton.

hotel budget prefer under 200 if possible. a 3 star hotel at least.

Thanks for your help!

Angie~

For that budget, if you book now in advance, you can get into the Colcord, which is extremely nice and just a couple blocks from Bricktown, the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, and the Memorial.

While in Shawnee, check out their great historic Santa Fe train depot near downtown, and eat at the Hamburger King.

I second the Colcord, a beautiful boutique hotel.

If they are not available when you want to visit, then the Skirvin would be my second choice - an historic hotel just recently brought back from the brink of disaster and beautifully restored while updating the amenities.

There are a number of fine restaurants in the downtown area as well. Trattoria Il Centro is very good. http://www.trattoriailcentro.com/

And a lot of people really like Nonna%26#39;s (I haven%26#39;t eaten there yet so I won%26#39;t make a recommendation.) http://www.nonnas.com/

My personal favorite in Bricktown is The Mantel (NOT Mickey Mantle%26#39;s!!!) http://www.themantelokc.com/

Thanks alot! now I feel much better about when to go %26amp; what to do. I will book early on the hotels %26amp; they looked Great on TA. The restaurants also sound Great! will def. have to check them out while in town.

Angie~

Sounds like you are going to be busy!! I agree with the Santa Fe Depot and Hamburger King in Shawnee! Also Van%26#39;s is very good if you like barbeque! I would also like to suggest some of my favorite places in Bricktown such as Bricktown Burgers (only open for lunch), Zios for italian and Earls for barbeque. Don%26#39;t forget to check out the Chihuley exhibit at the Art Museum if you have time!

Thanks! sounds Great! so looks like were going to go end of sep. first of oct. april is out as my relative is having knee surgery. but we will be just as excited to come in oct.!

thanks again!
