I would be so grateful for some suggestions.
My wife, 1 year old son and I will be visitng family in Oklahoma city this coming October. We are flying into Dallas Fort Worth from the UK for a two week holiday during which we will spend sometime visiting my wife%26#39;s brother.
Could you give us some road trip ideas of what route we should take so that we can see some interesting sites on the way between Dallas and Oklahoma City.
We like visitng museums, theme parks, wildlife parks etc.
Thanks

From Dallas to OKC the usual route is I-35 north.
In Arlington - close to Dallas and south of the DFW Airport - there is a theme park called Six Flags over Texas.

That%26#39;s an all-day affair, though.
On the way to OKC, in southern Oklahoma is the Arbuckle Mountain area (admittedly, very small mountains.) There is an animal park there as well as other parks and attractions:

There is a chocolate factory just off I-35 in Paul%26#39;s Valley (Exit 70 on I-35.)
Further north in Norman, OK is the Sam Noble Museum

Very nice place with interesting exhibits.
And in OKC there is Frontier City Amusement Park

That%26#39;s just off the top of my head. I%26#39;m sure there will be pleny of other suggestions.

Visitors can see fossils including the mammoth that lived 20,000 years ago and once grazed along the banks of the Trinity River where Dallas stands today. Also on display is a life-sized robotic Glyptodont, which became extinct 10,000 years ago and is a close relative of modern armadillos.

My 7 year old son loves Bricktown in OKC. They have gondola rides that are about 1 mile long. Great little bowling alley, several shops, a movie theater, a spook house, feed the ducks on the river and just leisurely stroll...He has asked me to go there every one of our days off together for the last year!
Here are a couple of suggestions which are right on your way north.
As you are heading north on Interstate Highway 35, take exit 47 and then proceed north on US Highway 77. This will take you on a winding route through the Arbuckle Mountains, some of the oldest mountains in the continent (and hence, very short mountains). You might want to stop at Turner Falls park as you go by http://www.turnerfallspark.com/
As you leave Turner Falls, continue heading north on US 77 and turn right onto Oklahoma Highway 7, which will lead you into the town of Davis where you will find many antique shops. Continue through Davis on OK 7 until you reach the town of Sulphur, where you can follow signs into the Chickasaw National Recreation Area where you will find a nice visitors center, walking trails, a lovely stream, natural springs, etc.

When you%26#39;ve had your fill of nature, just follow OK 7 back through Davis and it will return you to Interstate 35, a few miles north of where you left it.
