Hi,
My husband and I will travel the mother road this september. Since we are a little restricted in time, I%26#39;m doing a lot of planning ahead.
I already booked all the hotels, except for Tulsa. Can anyone recommend me a nice hotel/motel on or near R66 in a safe neighbourhood?
Hotel on or near route 66 Tulsa
For a very comfortable, safe place, try the Savoy Hotel on South Peoria in Tulsa. Not a ';classic'; Route 66 motel, but will be a nice safe place to stay (I have stayed there before and I do live less than 2 km away, so I do know the neighborhood). Website is www.tulsasavoy.com.

thx...I%26#39;ve read about the Savoy (I%26#39;m not looking for the R66-classics, but just want a good night sleep)
Just in case they don%26#39;t have a room... how about the Doubletree downtown or the Great Western (used to be rammada inn)?
The Great Western/Downtown Tulsa Hotel is undergoing substantial renovation so I can%26#39;t give any guidance until that%26#39;s completed. The Crowne Plaza is also completing renovations (downtown Tulsa is renovating substantially as the completion date for the new BOK Center approaches) so I can%26#39;t give any guidance about it, either.
The Doubletree Downtown is OK; Doubletree South is even nicer (61st %26amp; Yale).
If price is not a concern, the Ambassador Hotel is probably the nicest hotel in the downtown area. Website: www.hotelambassador-tulsa.com.
Downtown Tulsa is a pretty safe neighborhood. Other than the occasional panhandler (and I get panhandled less than 1x/month--and I work downtown and live a mile south of downtown), I have no concerns about safety there despite the concentration of services for the homeless provided by various charities just North of the main downtown area.
